Modern engine deposit issues

Diesel engines are very susceptible to fuel injector deposits. They always have been. Injector deposits reduce fuel efficiency and lead to costly repairs in all diesel engines, both conventional and modern.

Modern Tier 3 and interim Tier 4 engines are even more prone to injector deposit buildup when typical #2 diesel fuel is used. This is because the holes in the injectors in these modern engines are smaller and far more sensitive to even small amounts of deposits left behind from typical #2 diesel fuel. The operator may not even realize it is happening, but with each hour of operation the deposits slowly grow. Over the course of a season or two, engines can suffer very real performance losses.
