During this season of Thanksgiving, CountryMark donated $13,750 to six food banks in Posey County Indiana where the CountryMark refinery is located.

“What CountryMark does makes a huge difference for our food pantry,” said Kimberly Conlin, Director of the River Bend Food Pantry. Her pantry is open three mornings per week and one Saturday per month.

Mary Ellen Gerard explained that with their CountryMark donation, the New Harmony Ministry Association is able to give their visitors vouchers to pick up milk at local grocery stores.

“Anyone who has ever raised children knows how tremendously important it is that young, growing children receive adequate supplies of milk,” said Gerard. Nearly 3,000 residents in Posey County are food insecure. Donations, like the one made by CountryMark, help these individuals and families put food on their tables.

“Being able to share food with others in our community means a great deal to CountryMark and all of our employees,” said James Scarafia, who serves as chairman of the CountryMark philanthropy committee. CountryMark also supports At the Cross Mission, God’s Storehouse, the Salem United Caring Shelter and the Zion-Lippe United Church of Christ Partners in Food. All of these organizations run food pantries in Posey County Indiana. The mission of each of these pantries is to provide families in need with a two to three day emergency supply of food.

“There is no greater feeling than being able to put food on the table for loved ones,” said Pat Ward. “We hope the CountryMark donation will make that possible for those in need within our community this Thanksgiving and throughout the coming year.”
