CountryMark to sponsor artificial turf for Mt. Vernon High School football field

Feb 14 2019

Mt. Vernon – CountryMark is excited to announce a partnership with the Mt. Vernon School District as title sponsor for the installation of artificial field turf on the Mt. Vernon High School football field.

The field turf sponsorship was unveiled to the public at a special Mt. Vernon School Board meeting held February 13, 2019. Representatives from CountryMark were in attendance for this official announcement to show CountryMark’s ongoing support.

“CountryMark is very proud to partner with the Mt. Vernon School District to upgrade the football field.  Our employees not only work in this community but live and raise their families here as well.  This improvement is a great way for CountryMark to give back to Mt. Vernon by providing a facility that will benefit the entire school district,” said CountryMark Vice President of Refining and Logistics Matt Smorch.

CountryMark is committed to the Mt. Vernon community where our employees live and work. This community partnership will provide a safer place for school athletics while providing an area for other activities and scholastic and community events.

"We are very excited about partnering with CountryMark. The Memorial Field turf upgrade project will provide many opportunities for not only our football team, but also our physical education classes, band, clubs, and other sports teams,” said Mt. Vernon School District Superintendent Tom Kopatich. “CountryMark continues to lead the way in our Mt. Vernon schools and community and provides an example for other community members."

Artificial turf offers many advantages over natural grass. The new turf will resist weather and playing damage typical with natural grass. The turf also eliminates the need for pesticides and fertilizers while reducing maintenance costs and water needs. CountryMark will serve as the title sponsor of the artificial field turf installation.

Other Mt. Vernon community sponsors include WSI, Greater Mt. Vernon Association and an anonymous giver.

The Mt. Vernon High School football team plays their first game on the new turf on August 23, 2019.
