CountryMark Partners with Habitat for Humanity to Build Two Homes in Posey County

Jan 20 2016

Today, CountryMark pledged its continued support to the Mt. Vernon, Ind. community through an $80,000 donation to the Habitat for Humanity of Evansville ministry as a matching gift to help build two homes for needy Hoosiers.

The CountryMark donation consists of two $40,000 gifts designed through a matching gift program to help build two Habitat homes in the Mt. Vernon community.

Habitat will begin accepting donations from the community immediately to meet the first $40,000 gift. Once the first $40,000 gift is met, building of the first home will commence with the helping hands of CountryMark and local community volunteers. When construction of the first home is complete, donations for the second home will be accepted to reach the second matching gift from CountryMark.

“CountryMark is pleased to continue its partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Evansville,” said Pat Ward, CountryMark vice president of operations. “But more so, CountryMark is proud to give back to the local community of Mt. Vernon. Mt. Vernon is the home of our refinery and home to many of our employees. It’s only natural that we would want to share that sense of home with a Hoosier family in need.”

“Our mission at Habitat for Humanity is to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope,” said Beth Folz, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Evansville.

According to Folz, since 1984, Habitat for Humanity of Evansville has built 436 homes in Evansville and nine in Posey County. CountryMark has built three homes with Habitat and helped to build another five Habitat homes with both financial resources and employee volunteer hours.

“Now, as we embark on this new campaign, Transforming Lives, Changing Neighborhoods, we are so grateful for CountryMark’s partnership,” she added. “We thank them for their commitment to truly transforming lives and changing neighborhoods with their matching gift. We are confident the wonderful residents of Posey County will rise to the challenge and help two families in need become homeowners. Thanks to CountryMark and the community, Habitat is that much closer to building our 500th home by 2018.”
