Crude Oil Frequently Asked Questions

 

What is a Division Order?  ANSWER:  A contract between the owner of royalties, overriding royalties and working interest, and the First Purchaser of Crude (CountryMark), that states the legal description of the producing well for Division Order purposes, the legal name of the account, along with the decimal percentage that will be used to calculate your payments.  Document must be signed and returned to CountryMark in order to receive payments for crude oil purchases.

What is required to sign a Division Order?  ANSWER:  See the form Division Order Signing Instructions for additional information.

How long will it be before I receive my first payment once my completed Division Order has been returned to CountryMark?  ANSWER:  Approximately two weeks provided the ownership has been approved for payment.

Can a person that is considered a minor sign a Division Order?  ANSWER:  No.  Must be 18 years or older.

Can my spouse witness a Division Order?  ANSWER:  Yes.  Anyone 18 years or older.

Why do I need to include my social security number or federal tax identification number? CountryMark is required to report income from crude oil purchases to the Internal Revenue Service under the 1099 misc. income statement annually.

What if I do not enter my social security number or federal tax identification number?  ANSWER:  The account may be subject to the 28% backup withholding and remitted to the Internal Revenue Service for your account.

How can I receive my payments for crude oil purchases sooner rather than later?  ANSWER:  Click on Electronic Deposits link

How can I change my physical mailing address?  ANSWER:  Click on Address Change link

Why should I change my physical mailing address since I receive my payments via electronic deposit and email notifications?  ANSWER:  CountryMark will need to mail the 1099 misc. income statement to your physical address so you can report on your annual tax returns.

How can I add/change my email address for my account?  ANSWER:  Send an email to Division.Order@countrymark.com that includes the exact name on the account, owner number and last four digits of your social security number or federal tax identification number along with the address change information.

How can I obtain my crude payment remittance advice? ANSWER:  Email to: Division.Order@countrymark.com  Must provide the name on the account, owner number and last four digits of the social security number or federal tax identification number.

How can I obtain a copy of a historical payment remittance advice?  ANSWER:  Email Division.Order@countrymark.com and provide the name on the account, owner number and last four digits of the social security number or federal tax identification number.

Do you have an online portal where I can access payment remittance advices? ANSWER:  Not at this time.

Why did I not receive a payment this month?  ANSWER:  CountryMark only can issue payments if crude oil is purchased in the month prior.  Email Division.Order@countrymark.com and provide the name on the account, owner number and last four digits of the social security number or federal tax identification number.

Estates -A family member is now deceased and I need to know what the requirements are to transfer the ownership to the heirs or devisees named in the Last Will and Testament?   Click on Estate  link
